There is a Difference in Driveway Protection… Look for the Seal

Garage Floor Epoxy Fords, NJ

Raymond St Woodbridge Township, NJ, US, 08863

Description

In the last few months, Kleen Seal has been working hard to help businesses and homeowners in Fords, NJ make their garages look great. We're proud to announce that we just completed a garage floor epoxy project at a resident's home. The garage was originally built in the early 20th century and used as a horse stable for many years. It had been converted into an indoor recreation space in the 1990s by its current owner, but the original concrete floor was showing its age. The homeowner wanted to keep the character of the garage while updating it with a more modern aesthetic.

We sent out one of our estimators to meet with the customer and assess the situation. After discussing it, we were able to come up with a plan that would work for both parties. It involved removing the existing concrete flooring and replacing it with a new layer of concrete before applying an epoxy coating. Our team worked with the homeowner to decide on a color scheme that would complement their walls and add some pop of color to the space. The final product turned out beautifully!

Are epoxy floors good for your garage?

Epoxy is often used in garages and industrial environments because it's impervious to many common chemicals and corrosives found in the workplace. If you're considering installing epoxy flooring in your garage, here are some things you should know:

What is epoxy flooring?

Epoxy is a polymer, which is a synthetic chemical that makes things hard, like plastics and rubbers. Epoxy floors are created using epoxy resin, the liquid part of the flooring material that dries to a hard finish. Epoxy floors are extremely durable and can be used in many different settings, including garages.

Why choose epoxy?

They are a great choice for garages. They're durable, easy to maintain, and look great. It is resistant to chemicals and water, so it's also a good choice for garages because they often have harsh chemicals stored in them. Epoxy can easily be cleaned with soap and water or a combination of household cleaners, so you don't have to worry about damaging your garage floor when you're cleaning up spilled oil or gasoline. Even if you spill some sort of chemical on the floor, like transmission fluid, epoxy will resist those liquids from soaking into the concrete.

Pros of garage floor epoxy

It has many advantages over other garage flooring materials. It’s durable, long-lasting, and easy to clean. You can easily install it yourself and it works in a variety of environments. If you have pets or kids, epoxy is also easy to clean up after accidents happen because of its non-porous nature.

You can choose from a variety of colors and finishes for them, but they are not only available in those colors. If you want your floor to look like wood, there are combinations available as well, so go for it!

Cons of garage epoxy

The biggest downside to epoxy flooring is the cost. Epoxy floors can be expensive and they are not suitable for all garages. If you have a large garage or one that sees heavy traffic, you should consider another type of flooring.

Another downside is that epoxy floors may not be right for your garage if there's high humidity in your area, as this can cause expansion issues with the product.

Overall, epoxy garage floors can be a great option for your garage. The benefits of having them are greater than their downside. They provide a durable, beautiful finish that's easy to maintain and will last for years.

How to coat a garage floor with epoxy?

What's the best way to coat a garage floor with epoxy? It depends on whether you have a concrete slab or a wooden floor. If you have concrete, it's best to leave it alone and coat it with epoxy. If you have wood, there are many other options to consider besides epoxy. Here's a simple step to coat a garage floor with epoxy:

Step 1 - Remove Existing Flooring

The first step requires removing the existing flooring. Remove the old flooring all the way down to the bare concrete, or at the very least, make sure no glue is left behind. You can use a pressure washer as your main tool to clear any debris from the area surrounding the threshold and seal the garage door. It's also a good idea to clean out your gutters before you begin.

Step 2 - Sand, Scrape, and Vacuum

Old paint and rust must be removed with a sandblaster. Start by cleaning the surface with turpentine and a stiff brush. Remove any remaining rust or paint using sandpaper. Then, vacuum any dust left behind by your sanding process.

Now you are ready to apply your paint. Start by applying a coat of primer, followed by two coats of enamel. Give yourself at least 24 hours between applications if you need more than three coats.

Step 3 - Coat the Floor

You can apply an epoxy coating to the floor once it's dry. You have two options for applying the epoxy: a roller or a brush. If you choose to use a roller, smooth out the epoxy as evenly as possible and let it dry completely. If using a brush, apply two coats of epoxy; then let each coat cure for 24 hours before applying another layer. This will allow the first layer to fully cure before adding another.

As you can see, epoxy is a great option for garage floors. It's a durable, long-lasting coating that is easy to apply and clean. The epoxy will provide protection from oil and other fluids, making it much easier to maintain your garage floor. With a few days worth of work, you can have a garage floor that will last for years and look great.
